Tracey Edmonds isn’t just the producer of OWN’s new reality series, featuring Deion Sanders and family; she’s right next to her new beau on the show.
“Deion’s Family Playbook” premieres on Oprah Winfrey’s network March 1 at 10 p.m. EST. Cameras follow the former NFL star as he helps to raise a total of 10 kids and maintain a long-distance relationship with Tracey.
“These days, I’m trying to be the best single dad,” Deion explains in the show’s opening sequence. “It ain’t easy raising 10 kids, but I have a great team.”
While some families might not welcome reality TV crews into their personal spaces, Deion said his kids, five of which are biological, don’t shy away from the cameras at all.
“They love it. They really love it. They don’t mind whatsoever. When they come home, they’re asking for their microphones. They’re little stars. They know television,” he said.
Tracey added that they’re even taking on the responsibility of getting the word about the series. “They’re also social media kings. They got their Twitter activity promoting the show. They’re into the whole thing,” she said.
In addition to his personal life, viewers will also find out more about Deion’s school Prime Prep Academy. He told “Access Hollywood” that the charter school uses sports to draw students in, but the main focus is education.
“The kids are happy and ecstatic and we’re looking forward to our best year academically,” he said.
Watch the first 5 minutes of the show, premiering March 1 at 10 p.m. EST on OWN.
