LisaRaye McCoy made it a point to thank her fans as she bid farewell to “Single Ladies.”
VH1 announced earlier this week that season 3 of the scripted series would be the last.
“It has truly been [an] interesting journey for me. Unfortunately that journey has come to an end,” she wrote via Instagram. “Over the past 3 years being apart of the show that showcased the beauty of friendships, the power of loyalty, some amazing trendsetting fashions and steamy romance.”
Lisa starred in the role since season 1 as Keisha Greene. Viewers have watched as her character’s relationship with D.B. Woodside’s Malcolm grew and became a main storyline of the show.
Being one of the few scripted series on TV featuring a cast mostly composed of Black women, “Single Ladies” was able to stay away from some of the more stereotypical and negative behavior seen on its reality TV counterparts.
“It was really great to give voice and life to everyday situations that we as women face doing so in such a positive relatable Manor is what made single ladies so great,” she said.
Lisa, who’s starred in other scripted and reality shows in the past, assured fans that they’ve not seen the last of her.
“To all of my fans I want to thank you for your continued support we wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you. Of course this will not be the end of LisaRaye,” she said.
Though VH1 isn’t airing a fourth season, the statement released earlier this week gave some hope that a spinoff might be in the works.
“We hope to work again with the talented cast, creatives and producers as well as our partners at Flavor Unit Entertainment in the near future,” the statement read.
