Kelly Rowland is more than ready to kick her career into overdrive now that she’s left Universal Republic!
While chatting about her new gig as the face of Caress, the “Kisses Down Low” singer revealed to Huff Post Live that she’s already working on her next release.
“A fifth album is coming. I’m in the studio right now. I actually just got started last week. It’s been wonderful so far,” Kelly confessed. She’s projecting that her next album will be “a fresh, new spin on everything” and she’s been tinkering around with different writers and producers.
While the album is still in its early stages, she has a clear vision for what she wants to be on it. “I’m thinking different drums, certain horns–these flutes that I heard,” Kelly confessed. “I’ve been inspired by the queens that have gone before us. Incredibly strong women that aren’t afraid to take risks and just be innovative.”
She added, “I’m just in the studio on my own and just having a really good time being creatively free.”
Aside from that it seems that Ms. Rowland also has her eye on other ways to spread her creative wings. “I’m ready to dive into scripts. Absolutely. I’ve had meetings with directors,” she revealed, adding that she’d especially love to do an action movie or a romantic comedy.
But what else is coming up for Kelly? Hint: You might find it at the beauty counter!
“I can’t even front. What I’m actually working on right now is a makeup line,” Kelly confessed without giving away which company she’s collaborating with. In the meantime Kelly revealed that she’s also dreaming up another style project, sharing “I’m working on an accessories line, but I also want to develop children’s clothes.”
Kelly also took a moment to confirm her split from Universal and why she felt it was time to leave the label behind. “I think that what’s so cool about the time right now is that we make the rules,” she said. “I feel like right now, I just needed something new, and I’ve earned the right to make my own choices and make my own decisions.”
