Draya Michele may be using her consistently manicured nails to wave good-bye to “Basketball Wives,” the reality show that made her a household name among VH1 viewers.
“Feels like a tremendous weight has been lifted from my shoulders,” Draya tweeted earlier this week. “Won’t catch me arguing with the chicks I made semi-famous any longer. They gonna have to carry themselves or fight with each other.”
Draya has been with “Basketball Wives: LA” since season 1 and has made the most of her reality TV stardom. She won over many “BBWLA” viewers after allowing her co-stars to judge her for past relationships and an alleged child abandonment charge.
Now, Draya is an entrepreneur and is in a steady relationship with football player Orlando Scandrick. The couple’s relationship has gotten a lot of exposure during season 3 with Jackie Christie’s daughter accusing Orlando of trying to have a relationship with her, too. That romantic rumple eventually led to tension between Draya and her co-stars. It’s unclear whether her fight with Sundy Carter has anything to do with her rumored exit.
Draya’s posts suggest her dedication to her “real job” might be one reason she would leave the show that’s given her a platform, and she expressed gratitude to series creator Shaunie O’Neal.
“I have nothing but love & the up most respect for Shaunie Oneal,” she wrote. “How could I not, she gave me a chance.”
