Most reality TV stars agree that there are positive and negative aspects to opening up your lives for the world to see each week, and Rasheeda and Kirk Frost have experienced that firsthand.
“The Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” stars have had their marriage on display for fans since the show’s first season and things really got intense during season 2 when Kirk cheated on his wife for the world to see.
That led to lots of judgment from viewers who encouraged Rasheeda to leave her husband, which she opted not to do. Despite the side eyes they’re now receiving from people who feel like they know Kirk and Rasheeda personally, the couple told Sister 2 Sister that fans still don’t know everything that goes in their marriage.
“Everybody thinks they have the answer to your problems, and they don’t. They think they know a whole, whole lot about you and they really don’t because it’s not ‘The Kirk & Rasheeda Show.’ It’s ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,’” Rasheeda said. “You’re looking at bits and pieces in different people’s lives.”
Dealing with the public scrutiny isn’t the only aspect of reality TV fame that Rasheeda and Kirk could do without. Now, that Kirk is almost as famous as Rasheeda, he said more women proposition him.
“Me and Rasheeda have been a team,” he explained. “I’ve been quiet and I stayed in the background and I feel like that’s where you’re safe at. Now with me coming on ‘Love & Hip Hop,’ I’m not as safe anymore because now women are always on—you know.”
Luckily for the couple, they are focusing on the benefits of being on reality TV. The exposure has helped bring more attention to Rasheeda’s career as a rapper.
“It’s a great platform for business stuff, and if you already have businesses, it can help take that to the next level,” she said.
