Porsha Williams ripped the plot for her music video to “Flatline” right from her own life, revealing that she suffered through an abusive marriage.
It’s been more than a year since Porsha’s ex-husband Kordell Stewart surprisingly filed for divorce. Once the model of a devoted housewife, Porsha admitted that she didn’t really have a picture-perfect life as she claimed in her first season on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
“The video [for 'Flatline'] does touch on domestic violence and some abuse I encountered in my marriage,” Porsha revealed to “Access Hollywood Live” this week. “It’s not exact to what I went through, because, honestly, what I went through was a little bit worse in some instances.”
When pressed for clarification on the accusation she just made, Porsha said, “Abuse, physical and mental.”
Although she was trying to tip-toe around making any detailed claims during the interview up to that point, the hosts asked if Kordell had every hit her.
“Yeah. There were several different occasions that this happened,” she admitted, adding that not all of their arguments ended in a physical altercation “When you’re in an abusive situation, it kind of just builds, and it starts to get worse and worse. And people ask me, ‘Why didn’t you tell anybody or call the police, or what have you?’ I thought that I could make it better … It doesn’t work like that,” she said.
The reason that Porsha was able to keep the alleged abuse under wraps is because she never went to a hospital after they had an argument. While her physical injuries healed, Porsha’s still coping with the mental and emotional scars that she claims Kordell left.
“I’ll tell you the ones that have stuck with me the most is the mental abuse. I had so much pride in being a wife and being a mother and what that meant to me was big,” Porsha said. “So for me to be told that I was lazy and that I was stupid and that I wasn’t good enough and that nothing I could do was right, that was really, really hard on me.”
She added,” As a housewife you’re trying to be the best, and when someone is constantly ridiculing you, [and] I’m always trying to live up to what that person thinks of me, it’s hard.”
Porsha also dropped by “The View” today to again explain her side of her rumble with Kenya Moore.
