Blue Ivy petitioner claims it was a joke

Blue_IvyA week after critics expressed their displeasure with Blue Ivy’s free-flowing tresses, the hip-hop heiress was spotted with a new ‘do, complete with a crown.

Unlike the photo that attracted so much attention, the 2-year-old’s hair is clearly styled and under control in the more recent photos. That should be some consolation to many who vocalized their issues with Blue’s hair.

While she had as many supporters and detractors, Jasmine Toliver, the New York woman who started a “Come Her Hair” petition on, said she meant it as a joke.

“It just goes to show you how dumb people really are to believe I would really deep down in my heart start a petition to comb her hair and be DEAD SERIOUS!” Jasmine wrote via Facebook this week late last week.

“Your suppose to laugh at stuff like that. Shake your head and keep strolling. A discussion with 4 friends and a joke when I said ‘I’m going to start a petition to get this baby hair combed’ turned global!!!” she wrote.

However after claiming it was a joke, Jasmine took credit for Blue’s new look.

“I saved her life. She gone thank me when she gets older. As we can see it petitions work! Power to the people!” she wrote.

Jasmine’s joke did garner a lot of attention. Wendy Williams, India.Arie and the co-hosts of “The View” all spoke against it.

The petition currently has more than 5,000 signatures.
