VH1 reality stars are notorious for later starring in their own reality series and though it’s been nearly a decade, Hoopz, the winner of “Flavor of Love” season 1, is reportedly returning to the genre.
Unlike her reality counterparts, such as Tiffany Pollard who went onto star in “I Love new York,” Nicole Alexander won’t be searching for love on her new show. Instead, the new series, airing on Oxygen, turns the camera on her family life.
“This comedic docu-series gives viewers a look into Nikki ‘Hoopz’ Alexander’s unique and chaotic modern family with her five younger sisters and her 11 nieces and nephews. With an unparalleled bond, the Alexander sisters, ages 24-31, have been together through thick and thin,” according to a press release.
Supposedly, this series, with the working title “It Takes a Sister,” is following the model of well-known family-focused reality shows “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “Braxton Family Values;” however, there seems to be a “Simple Life” spin to it.
“Now at Nikki’s ranch in rural Knoxville, Tennessee, these girls are fish-out-of-water as they try to fit in down south. Their relationship will be tested as Nikki, known as the ‘Mama Bear’ of the family, pursues her dream of opening her own boutique, while also helping her sisters accomplish their own goals.”
While a May press release about the show mentioned Hoopz trying to maintain a long-distance relationship with Shaquille O’Neal, a more recent announcement doesn’t mention her former fiancé. The couple reportedly broke up in 2012; although, there were rumors of a reconciliation last year.
Oxygen, the home of “Preachers of L.A” and “Bad Girls Club” is looking to become another cable network whose programming caters to women.
“This is a dynamic time for Oxygen as we rebrand and reinforce the network as the destination for young female viewers, read a statement from network exec Frances Berwick. “We are committed to increasing original programming with vibrant and bold shows that are in line with our new programming filter and target this undeserved audience.”
