Adiz Benson, known as “Bambi” to VH1 viewers, said sharing her pregnancy and miscarriage with “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” fans was a mutual decision between her and boyfriend Lil Scrappy.
“I did not think that would be something that I wanted to show. I thought about it and I talked to Scrap about it. I thought maybe this would be inspiring to some other woman and she could watch how we recovered from it,” Bambi explained.
Many people can’t imagine what life will bring them after they sign on to do reality TV and though Bambi’s storyline went in a direction she couldn’t predict, she was even more surprised by how people reacted.
The former “Basketball Wives: LA” personality was inundated with messages from those who insisted she had an abortion and not a miscarriage. In response, Bambi publicized the discharge papers from the hospital.
“I didn’t really think that people would think something like that would be made up for ratings or for a joke,” she said. “The fact that people thought that was made up was really disturbing to me. That was one of the reasons why we just decided to release the discharge papers and be totally open. I chose to do reality TV. I let them be apart of it.”
Bambi said she did receive messages of encouragement from women who had experienced similar losses, including her boyfriend’s mother Momma Dee.
While she’s healing from that physical and emotional loss, Bambi’s also serving those in need with her Pink Out Poverty charity.
