T.I. isn’t at all surprised that there’s continued beef between female emcees. According to the “Family Hustle” star, conflict is pretty much the norm when it comes to members the fairer sex.
“They’re women. They’re women. With all do respect to women, but that’s what women do,” he told TheGrio.com. “It’s women walking across the street from corner to corner in the crosswalk, kicking each others’ ankles. ‘Stay out my lane,’” he mimicked.
T.I.’s artist Iggy Azalea was recently the rumored victim of shade from BET Award winner Nicki Minaj, but the “Anaconda” singer quickly clarified that she was not attempting to diss her counterpart.
“I will always take a stance on women writing because I believe in us,” Nicki wrote days after her acceptance speech. “I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy publicly. She should be very proud of that.”
Since then, Nicki has been lyrically attacked by Lil Kim who continues to accuse the Young Money artist of stealing her persona.
“It’s a competitive sport already in hip hop. Anytime you have women who have to compete for acknowledgement in the same area. That’s going to be inevitable,” T.I. said about the recent beef. “They’re women. Let them handle that.”
