NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who has been battling leukemia was recently hospitalized.
Jabbar was checked into the hospital earlier this week with severe chest pain and this comes just two weeks after he underwent quadruple bypass surgery on April 16. Abdul- Jabbar was instructed to go to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center by his doctor.
TMZ reports that the 68-year-old was transported to the hospital by an ambulance following a 911 call. Since the medical scare, Jabbar has been released and is back at home, according to a statement from his representative.
Fans were shocked to hear of the news because two hours before the 911 call, the hall-of-famer tweeted that he was “doing fine & feeling better everyday.”
After an evaluation by his surgeon and cardiologist, he was medically cleared:
“His surgeon, Dr. Richard Shemin, said it is not uncommon for patients to experience symptoms of discomfort following major heart surgery and Abdul-Jabbar did the right thing by coming in to see his physicians.”
Wishing Kareem a speedy recovery!
