Stacey Dash received criticism from fans and followers after endorsing Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.
The occasional Twitter user expressed her support for Mitt in 40 characters Sunday.
“Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future,” she posted, along with an image of her in front of an American flag.
Unlike Nicki Minaj, whose lyrical endorsement on a mixtape was waived off as artistic expression, Stacey hasn’t bothered to clarify her post or put it into any context other than what seems clear.
While she hasn’t had much to say about her political views, many on Twitter challenged the former “Single Ladies” actress.
John Legend’s fiancée and model, Chrissy Teigen tweeted, “Insert clueless joke here,” referring to the ‘90s comedy movie in which Stacey co-starred.
“You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing @MittRomney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot,” wrote one Twitter user.
While some of the tweets light-heartedly poked fun at Stacey, others seemed mean-spirited and attacked her race.
“She’s an indoor slave,” read one post.
“Stacey Dash has probably been thinking that she’s a white woman since her “Clueless” days. All the signs were there,” read another.
Some posts even took it a step further.
“Kill yaself you old hag,” wrote one tweeter, whose sentiment was echoed by several others.
However, there were also tweeters who supported Stacey for sharing her somewhat unpopular opinion despite the scrutiny.
Stacey, 46, didn’t respond directly via Twitter to those who challenged her views. Instead, she kept it mature.
“My humble opinion… EVERYONE is entitled to one."
