Queen Latifah is on track to return to TV next year thanks to CBS!
"The Queen Latifah Show," executive produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, is set to debut in late 2013, Deadline.com reports.
Latifah, who will not only act as host but a third executive producer as well, will bring her show to 16 CBS stations across the country under a premium deal with the network. The daytime talk series will play to her strengths by including comedy, pop culture and musical features. "The Queen Latifah Show" will also include segments for celebrity interviews and human interest stories.
Talks for the series began after this fall’s round of talk shows premiered, with Sony Pictures TV shopping "The Queen Latifah Show" to several different networks. According to Deadline, it came down to a choice between CBS or NBC. The sale includes broadcast commitments on CBS’ flagship stations.
With "The Dr. Phil Show" and "Judge Judy" as two of CBS’ most popular syndicated TV shows, "The Queen Latifah" show fills the niche for an entertainment syndicated daytime talk show.
