Laura Govan is pleased that celebrities haven’t been shy about sharing their political beliefs this election season.
While some may question why actors and reality stars should or would throw their hats into the political ring, Laura Govan explained that it’s because celebrities carry a lot of clout.
“We are the influence. It’s really to sad to say, but it is the truth,” she told Sister 2 Sister. “We should definitely be more involved.”
Tracee Ellis Ross, Hill Harper, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Kerry Washington and more agree and have hit the campaign trail for President Barack Obama this year. Hill even knocked on would-be voters’ doors.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z and Will and Jada-Pinkett Smith hosted fundraisers whose proceeds went toward the president’s re-election campaign.
Despite all those efforts, Laura said there’s only so much stars can do, but they should do the most they’re able.
“People can only do as much as they can. I can’t walk to your house and give you a ballot. You have to do it yourself,” she said. “Every vote counts.”
