Glamorous fashion designer Rachel Roy tells us what she keeps in her beauty cabinet.
With her eponymous couture collection and new, lower-end line for Macy’s, former Rocawear designer Rachel Roy is everywhere. She’s always impeccably dressed, but we’re equally impressed with her hair and makeup. So we were all about it when Rachel recently shared her top beauty tips while guest-editing BeautyBlitz.com.
Classic scent: "I use Chanel No. 5 Body Lotion because I love a classic smell. I prefer the lotion to the perfume because it lasts longer on my body."
Red hot lips: "Bright lipstick is a way to quickly pop an outfit and freshen up a look a la Ava Gardner in The Barefoot Contessa. My favorite bright is MAC Lipstick Cream Morange – it’s a great way to add a twist to a classic look."
Face forward: "I use an Estee Lauder Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Lotion SPF 15 moisturizer every day, and I love it because it’s light and not greasy and great with my extremely sensitive skin."
Hand in hand: "I don’t put much in my hair so it doesn’t dry it out but when I do an updo, bun or ponytail I use Nivea hand cream. It’s also my favorite lotion as well."
The eyes have it: "Because of my Indian ancestry, I love darkly rimmed eyes – a smoky eye adds a sexy yet natural look to a classic outfit. I use Revlon Matte Luxurious Color Kohl Eyeliner in Black Truffle on the inside of the lids," and "I feel a great mascara can open the eye and instantly make you look as though you’ve have a good night’s sleep. I use 2-3 coats of Lancome Fatale Mascara on the top, bottom, and also on the back of the top lashes."
