Previews for the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” have left many with the impression that Kenya Moore engaged in a flirtatious relationship with Apollo Nida, a married man.
However, Kenya clarified that her focus is on getting her own man, not on getting involved with anyone else’s.
“Let me be the first to say, I’m not interested in anybody’s husband, not Phaedra’s or anybody else’s. You can put that on the record,” she said on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show.”
“When you have a teaser out there or what most people would consider a commercial, they’re designed to make you want to tune in,” said Kenya. “Some things are definitely taken out of context.”
The footage in question showed Kenya and Apollo, Phaedra’s husband, frolicking together in a pool and enjoying a go-kart race.
Of course, fans of the show have seen that Kenya has her own man who she’s been dating for two years. He’s one reason she relocated to Atlanta, and she’s hoping they’ll soon head down the aisle and have some kids.
That’s something to which Kenya feels the “RHOA” audience can relate.
“Me being a single woman over 40, no children and I’ve never been married, I represent 42.4 percent of Black women who have never been married. I think that the viewers will need to watch the show to see how I deal with the challenges that arise in my relationship and getting to know someone and trying to get to the altar. That’s always going to be my end game right now,” said Kenya.
As for her depiction on the show, Kenya said she’s had to get used to the editing and warned viewers not to put too much weight on what they see.
“People have to be really careful on what they consume. You can pretty much, in this day and age, you can never believe what you hear and only half of what you see,” she said. “At the end of the day, it’s entertainment.”
