Fans excited about the upcoming “Boy Meets World” spin-off have expressed shock over the transformation of the series’ African-American star, Trina McGee.
Trina, who played Angela Moore on the show that ran for seven seasons, represented for the chocolate sisters on the coming-of-age sitcom with a predominantly White cast, but these days she might actually blend in.
The 43-year-old isn’t rocking the natural hair anymore and seems to have gone from chocolate to more of a caramel shade with vanilla frosting on top.
Though her new look is vastly different from what many remember, Trina denies that she’s had any work done.
“Black does not crack. The new look is still 100% ME,” she tweeted. “No work done, just taking care of my mind, body and soul.”
There’s been no definitive word yet on whether Trina will be back for the Disney spin-off “Girl Meets World,” but given that her on-screen boyfriend Shawn Hunter, played by Rider Strong, isn’t returning, the actress may not have much of a storyline to contribute.
Of course, it’s already been confirmed that series’ stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel (Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence) will be reprising their roles, much in the same way that regulars from the ‘80’s “Degrassi” show helped launched the “Next Generation” spin-off.
In the new series, Cory will be playing a teacher at his daughter’s middle school and Topanga will be his wife. The fictional couple has two children: a boy and a girl.
Though Rider won’t be back, he had fond memories to share about his time on the show.
“’Boy Meets World’ was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years. It was never just a job—on a personal level, many of my best memories and friendships were formed because of it,” he said in a statement.
