Kevin Hart talks ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’

Kevin Hart is pretty sure that his show, "The Real Husbands of Hollywood," will be one of the biggest things ever for BET.

What all started with a hilarious set of skits for the 2011 BET Awards has spawned a new sitcom, which would be the first of its kind for the network. And, in Kevin’s opinion, it’s the kind of comedy that’s been missing from the TV landscape for a while.

"There’s nothing like it on television. It’s a mock reality show with a ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’-feel—with me being that Larry David type," Kevin told BET.com. "Every actor in it is not afraid to make fun of themselves."

Aside from Kevin, the show also stars Nick Cannon, Duane Martin, Boris Kodjoe and Robin Thicke. The funnyman also pulled a veteran from "Curb Your Enthusiasm," J.B. Smoove. Mariah Carey and Shane Mosley are also slated to make an appearance on the show. Pulling in such a-listers is just part of the reason why Kevin believes "The Real Husbands of Hollywood" will be such a big hit for BET.

"I can honestly go on record saying this show will be what ‘Chappelle’s Show’ was for Comedy Central," Kevin told BET.com. "Comedy Central was a great network, but ‘Chappelle’s Show’ took it to a completely different level. Other shows got bigger because so many viewers were watching the Chappelle reruns."

He went on to state, "For BET, the Real Husbands of Hollywood has that same potential."

Kevin is a natural at what he does, but some fans might have a hard time figuring out what’s real and what’s just for fun in the semi-scripted series. That is by design. "It’s mock reality but we’re treating it like it’s real," Kevin explained.

Just like any other reality show, there will be some major beefs including a feud between Kevin and Nick Cannon that all started on the set of Drumline. Kevin admits that he’s also kind of a hater with a big ego.  "I’m jealous of Boris because he models and I don’t think he’s that attractive. Robin, I think that his singing career is a fluke and Paula Patton really wants me," Kevin explains.

"It’s so much nonsense that we’ve made it appear to be real," he added. "I think it’s really going to be something to see. We have a special thing and I’m really excited to be a part of it."

Kevin also mentioned that he’s working on Think Like A Man 2. Get a peek at pics from the set of the original below!
