Popular lingerie store Victoria’s Secret has extended its collegiate collection, PINK, to include loungewear with HBCU logos. The schools they chose–Howard University, Florida A&M University, North Carolina A&T State University and Southern University–will now have popular PINK items emblazoned with their logo, mascot or name.
As alums of historically black schools ourselves, we at S2S are particularly excited. It wasn’t too many years ago that we’d walk into our neighborhood Vickie’s store and see our friends, students at schools like the University of Maryland, eagerly shop for PINK school paraphernalia that was about 100 times cooler than anything the university bookstore offered.
Now we can, too!
Our favorite looks from the collection include:
Howard University football dress ($39.50)
As a general rule, we hate anything having to do with the pigskin or the gridiron, but this jersey dress with an empire waist is just adorable.
FAMU bling zip hoodie ($78)
At $78 this hoodie may be too rich for the average college student’s blood, but the bright orange color and cute design make it just right for a young alum.
North Carolina A&T State University bling tee ($39.50)
The last time we paid nearly 40 bucks for a T-shirt … wait, we’ve never paid 40 bucks for a T-shirt. We might just have to make this attractive blue and gold tee the first, since we’ve fallen in love with this shirt that’s perfect for the sleep/study/class schedule of college students.
Southern University flip-flops ($22.50)
We’re 99 percent sure that the kids at Southern down in Baton Rouge, La. practically live in flip-flops, so why not live in a cute, spirited pair? With the blue and gold of the school and the slogan "Go Pink," they represent what’s paramount for a young co-ed: education and style.
According to its website, Victoria’s Secret will soon sell items for Hampton University as well.
