It’s long overdue, but Sade has finally climbed back to the top spot on a Billboard chart.
Soldier of Love earned the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 chart this weekend, clocking in with sales of 502,000 copies last week. As prolific as Sade is, this is her first #1 since Promise occupied the top spot for two weeks in 1986.
Don’t feel bad for Sade, though, because her albums, including Lover’s Rock, have consistently ranked in the Top 10. This latest rank nudged Lady Antebellum, last week’s #1, down to the #2 position
R&B singer Jaheim also had an impressive comeback week with Another Round. After selling 112,000 copies last week, Jaheim’s latest release debuted on the Top 200 at #3. He didn’t have as long a wait between #1s Sade did; his 2006 release, Ghetto Classics, peaked a t#1, according to Billboard.com
