Jackie Chan is teaching Jaden Smith a thing or two about Kung-Fu in the trailer for The Karate Kid.
Yeah, we know that sounds a little confusing, and you’re probably asking, “If the movie is called The Karate Kid, then why isn’t he learning Karate?”
From what we’ve seen so far, the 2010 Karate Kid is more of an update of the original than a remake. For starters the film is set in China, where they practice Kung-Fu (Karate is a Japanese martial art). And instead of “wax on, wax off,” it’s “put on the jacket, take off the jacket.”
While we’re not sure how that movie quote will catch on, The Karate Kid is definitely on our must-see summer movie list. We’re also amped about the casting for the new Karate Kid because Jaden (Will Smith’s little boy) will Jaden will do his thing on screen again. And any time we can see Taraji P. Henson and Jackie Chan in a movie, you know we’re all about it!
The film doesn’t come out until June 11, but you can check out this theatrical trailer (released today) in the meantime.
