MC Lyte and Loni Love are repping for brown-skinned women everywhere with their new weekend radio show.
The pair launched “Café Mocha” last month to speak to the underserved listener demographic: Black women. If we had to call it, the two-hour show is like a weekend chat at your girlfriend’s house. On “Café Mocha,” Lyte and Loni talk about anything and everything while serving up advice and spinning the hottest urban hits.
“Café Mocha brings a fresh and empowering perspective that will speak directly and wholeheartedly to a community often overlooked by radio,” said show creator Sheila Eldridge. “We’re aiming to become the Essence magazine of the airwaves celebrating all shades of mocha.”
Adding a little more flavor to the mix will be Angelique Perrin, whose voice you might recognize from “Comic View.” And expect to hear from Black opinion leaders as the ladies of “Café Mocha” will also do interviews with celebs and politicians.

Superwoman Lil’ Mo has also returned to the airwaves, hosting afternoon programming for Washington D.C.’s WPGC. BV Buzz reports that she’s taking over for Big Tigger, who told listeners last week that he’s hanging up his headphones.
"Now the technology is more advanced and I’m more mature," said Mo. "People got to know me in song, but I’m versatile and now you get to hear me talk it out on radio. You’ll get into who I really am!"
This isn’t Mo’s first go round as a radio host. The singer, currently working on a new album, used to host a radio show in her hometown of Baltimore.
