Angela Basset has signed on to become part of the cast for Green Lantern.
Variety.com reports that the Angela will be playing government agent Dr. Amanda Waller. She stars opposite Ryan Reynolds, who plays the lead role, and Peter Sarsgaard.
The film has already begun shooting in New Orleans, and not much is know about the storyline or the extent of Angela’s part. Although she may not get a lot of screen time in Green Lantern, Angela’s role is significant because Amanda is a big part of the comic series that the film is based on. So, if there are any more installments, she could have a bigger presence in those films
Those familiar with Amanda may be a bit surprised by this casting decision, because, physically, it may have been better suited for Mo’Nique, Yvette Nicole Brown or even Loretta Devine.
Either way, we’re excited that Angela is onboard for the project, and we can’t wait to see the finished project.
