Soul singer Anita Baker has plenty in store for her fans this year, including a new album.
Anita already has many people excited about her headlining performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Sunday, but what’s even more exciting is the iconic artist’s return to a studio in Nashville for the creation of her next album. The project is set for release later this year through Blue Note Records.
She suggests that as-yet untitled album will be bringing about some new sounds for her fans. "I’m going to Nashville to mix it up, shake it and see what comes out," said the eight-time Grammy winner. In fact, one of the tracks mentioned is a collaboration with Snoop Dogg on a new version of Curtis Mayfield’s “Give You My Love.”
Anita’s album will likely have some new styles that fans can be excited about. According to Billboard.com, Anita assures that the new music is "not a departure. It will be an Anita Baker record, but it will have a lot of surprising elements in it. We’ll take a lot of our contemporaries and bring them into my project where they may fit."
The album is said to feature production from the likes of George Dukes, Nathan East, and Daniel Moore.
