Akon is dragging some former business partners to court over a line of perfume boasting his name.
The singer-producer has filed suit claiming a group of unnamed fragrance developers have been selling a supposedly bootleg line of cologne called Konvict, the New York Daily News reports.
According to papers filed in Manhattan Federal Court, Akon had been talking with developers about releasing a fragrance. He was surprised to find out that his former partners had formed Konvict Cosmetics International without his permission. The company has released two scents bearing his name: one for men and one for women.
Akon wants the company to halt production of both products immediately, but there’s no word on whether he’s seeking monetary damages.
