It’s Hammertime on A&E

A&E network is currently producing a new reality show starring rapper MC Hammer plus his wife Stephanie and seven children. We’re going to go out on a limb here and say the show is destined for success.

First of all, who didn’t have a pair of "Hammer pants," an MC Hammer doll (ours wore a fly purple suit) or that song "2 Legit 2 Quit" stuck in their head throughout the entire decade of the ’90s? Exactly.

According to the network’s official release, the show has already started filming and is slated to debut sometime this year. An A&E exec claims that the show was created because Hammer is "an iconic figure in American pop culture," but we say it’s probably because they saw how ridiculously successful other rapper-as-Cliff-Huxtable shows like "Run’s House," "Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood" and "Luke Campbell’s Parental Advisory" were. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited to see it.

Now sing it with us "2 legit! 2 legit to quit! Hey! Hey!"
