Mary J. Blige has lined up he next big screen gig, starring in a biopic about the High Priestess of Soul.
Variety.com reports that Mary is set to play Nina Simone in Nina, which centers the singer’s relationship with assistant Clifton Henderson (to be played by David Oyelowo).
The biopic, penned by Cynthia Mort, will begin filming in France this September. There’s no word on when it will premiere at this time.
Nina, who was also a civil rights activist, is perhaps best know for her tack “My Baby Just Cares For Me." But our favorite Nina Simone standard is still “Feeling Good.”
