According to this weekend’s box office returns, Jaden Smith is stuntin’ like his daddy at the movies!
The Karate Kid enjoyed a warm welcome at theaters across the country this weekend, raking in $56 million in ticket sales.
Between Jaden, Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson starring in the film, odds were stacked in Kid‘s favor anyway, but it pulled more than twice the sales of its closest competitor. The A-Team, another 80s remake, debuted at #2 this weekend with $26 million.
Meanwhile, Shrek Forever After slipped two spots to third place, but it still pulled in a respectable $15.8 million at the box office.
Get Him to the Greek, featuring Diddy, landed in the #4 slot after making $10.1 million this weekend. Killers rounded out the top 5 with more than $8.1 million.
