President Barack Obama is furthering his effort to strengthen the American famliy.
Just hours after Father’s Day weekend drew to a close, the White House announced that Obama is launching The President’s Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative.
The Obama administration, in conjunction with Neighborhood Partnerships
and the Office of Public Engagement, will continue to hold community forums about fatherhood and personal responsibility. The next such discussion will take place on August 10 in Arizona.
Organizations backing The President’s Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative will also be reaching out to men across the country, signing them up for a newsletter offering advice on being a dad.
President Obama has also proposed the creation of a Fatherhood, Marriage and Families Innovation Fund that will support programs aimed at building stronger families. And since the president knows that a solid job goes a long way to providing stability in any household, he has approved funding from the Department of Labor that will help non-custodial parents who have problems getting hired find transitional jobs.
