    A jail sentence isn’t keeping Lil Wayne from winning awards!
     
    The 10th Annual Urban Awards hosted by Broadcast Music, Inc. proved to be a night of appreciation and celebration. Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas took home the BMI President’s Awards for his musical talent as well as his humanitarian work. To add to his honor, “Boom Boom Pow” won Urban Songwriter of the Year.
     
    Rapper Lil Wayne won Urban Songwriter of the Year for the second time in a row.
     
    The whole night featured exciting performances by B.o.B., Usher, Pleasure P, and Flo Rida. But before that, Jay Sean and Cali Swag District rocked the BMI/Suntrust #1 Show preshow, hosted by LaLa.
     
    EMI Music Publishing took the prize of Urban Publisher of the Year while Polow Da Don won Urban Producer of the Year.
     
    The performing right organization hosts the Urban Awards every year to recognize today’s best songwriters, producers, and music publishers.
     
    Friday’s festivities were held in Hollywood, Calif. and sponsored by the likes of SmartWater, Hennessy/Moet, and Coke. Ray J, along with BMI president and CEO Del Bryant and vice president Catherine Brewton, hosted the event.
