An old producer for Cash Money Records wants his money one way or another.
Tristan “T Mix” Jones has filed a civil suit seeking $2.25 million in damages from the label, AllHipHop.com reports. Court documents filed February 26 state that he is still waiting on Cash Money to finish paying him for work that he did under contract.
According to the suit, T Mix signed a contract with the label to produce music for their artists. He also agreed to arrange, record, mix, edit and program music between November 2005 and 2007.
T Mix said his work with the label yielded more than 40 master recordings for at least four Cash Money albums, including Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter 2.
Tristan estimates that his work has earned Cash Money at least $30 million. Now, he claims that the label owes him $2.25 million in royalties. They could owe him more than that since they haven’t given him royalty statements or accounts of global album sales and downloads.
Tristan said that Cash Money has only paid him a total of $187,850 so far.
