D’Angelo is back. Well, sort of. He’s reappearing from a decade of hiding to join forces with British artist Mark Ronson. According to MTV, the pair has been recording together for the past year.

“Nobody wears shirts in the studio, that’s the rule. Especially since we recorded most of the album during [a] heat wave, in Brooklyn, in a studio with no air conditioning,” Mark joked with MTV News, alluding to D’Angelo’s shirtless and steamy “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” video.

Mark and D’Angelo spent the summer in the studio working on Mark’s Record Collection album, which dropped yesterday. If you’ve missed D’Angelo’s voice, listen for him in the song “Glass Mountain Trust.”

Mark also contributed to D’Angelo’s Voodoo album. The R&B crooner was impressed with Mark’s role in Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black and asked to work with him. Mark said he was “floored” by the request.

Boy George, Dap-Kings, and the Antibalas Afrobeat also collaborated with Mark on his latest album.
