Chris Brown charged with two felonies

Chris Brown could be heading to jail.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney has just slapped Chris Brown with felony charges of assault and making criminal threats, TMZ.com reports.  Court documents list "Robyn F." (aka Rihanna) as the victim.

Chris will be arraigned today at 3:30 p.m. today and he could face a maximum of four years and eight months in a state prison.

The charges stem from his alleged fight with girlfriend Rihanna on February 8.  LAPD has leaked detective notes from a search warrant detailing what happened that night.  Chris turned himself in after the Los Angeles Police Department launched a felony battery investigation against him.

The D,A. had previously asked the LAPD  to conduct another investigation into the alleged fight because they said there wasn’t enough proof to build a case.  The LAPD handed its evidence to the D.A. before the proceedings this morning, E! Online reports.

Chris’ attorney, Mark Geragos, had been trying to a reach a plea deal with the L.A. County D.A.   According to E!’s legal source, "[Mark] was downtown meeting with the D.A. on Monday"  He was attempting to work things out so that Chris only got probation instead of being sentenced to jail time.

Since a plea deal wasn’t reached, Chris had to show up for his hearing at a Los Angeles court today.
