Couple: Kyle Massy & Lacey Schwimmer
Kyle’s been pretty lucky so far in that he’s gotten quick, quirky dances that naturally compliment his personality. This week, however, he had to pull off an airy, romantic Waltz, which means he’d have to win the crowd over with technique.
We had our doubts because this dance takes a finesse that even Kyle’s professional partner knew he may not have already had. “Being soft and delicate is not Kyle’s cup of tea, so this waltz is a huge challenge for him,” Lacey said.
Kyle took the dance as his biggest challenge of the competition. “I want to show everyone that I can be fun and full of energy and be full of technique and romantic at the same time,” Kyle said.
Yet again, Kyle surprised the heck out of us! Although Kyle has been our favorite ballroom butterball on the show ever (including Steve Wozniack), he really managed to float across the dance floor while still injecting a little personality.
“It’s brilliant what you do,” said Bruno. “You’re so expressive. Your arms are getting much, much better.”
“You just bring the fun to the floor,” Carrie Ann shouted. “I could feel your passion all the way out to your fingertips. I loooved it!"
While Len acknowledged that Kyle is one of the best entertainers on the show, this Waltz allowed him to focus more on the actor’s technique…and he didn’t like what he saw.
“You have done nothing with your footwork at all,” Len criticized. “It’s absolutely atrocious. Your footwork is non-existent.”
Faulty footwork aside, Kyle and Lacey still managed to waltz off with a score of 23.
