Celebrity steppers revisited some of TV’s best hits on this week’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”

    Couple: Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy

    Dance: Quickstep

The pressure was on for Brandy and Maks, who had the honor of kicking off  “DWTS” this week. But they had to pull themselves together and put on a happy face to turn out an upbeat Quickstep to theme song from “Friends”—despite the fact that their own relationship hasn’t always been stable.

“In this competition so far, Brandy and I have been going through a lot of ups and downs in our relationship,” Maks said. “This week we’re really embracing the idea of friendship, and this Quickstep is really going to show it.”

“In the short time that we’ve known each other, we’ve gotten very close,” Brandy said of the relationship she has with Maks. “My friends are very important to me.“

In sharp contrast to last week’s steamy Rumba routine, Brandy and Maks kept it light and fun this week with this week’s Quickstep. We thought they did a flat-out awesome job, and Brandy was really able to show a goofier side of her personality without looking like she was trying too hard.

Brandy and Maks were the right pick to “DWTS” last because they got the audience and the judges fired up.

“I’m so impressed with that!” judge Len Goodman cheered. “It was full of energy. It was a little bit sassy here and there. It was, without doubt, your best dance!”

“Brandy, Maks, you found the right formula,” said judge Bruno Tonioli, who broke his pen in all his excitement over their dance. He was so sure that Brandy would trip in her heels that he was literally counting the beats until it happened, but it never did. “You were on it.”

“You two have been through a lot…I see such an amazing new bond,” said judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who was unusually reserved in her critique. “You’re at a whole ’nother level now.”

After an amazing performance like that, Brandy and Maks stepped off the floor with 27 points, their highest score of the season.
