Couple: Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Last week was a very good week for Brandy and Maks, but this one was even better. Unfortunately, the week started with tears and frustration.
Brandy is much tougher on herself than her partner could ever be, but when that work ethic is mixed with Maks’ demanding approach it all got to be a little too much for the R&B singer.
“I definitely feel like I’m under more pressure because this is week six, and it’s going to get harder and harder from here,” she acknowledged. “I think I’m feeling the pressure.”
We’re definitely feeling her on that—especially when you consider that she had to learn two routines this week: One for the Tango and another for this season’s “DWTS” dance marathon. At one point, it all got to be too much for Brandy, and she stormed out of practice in tears. Maks wasn’t about to let her mope for too long, though.
“When I brought Brandy back in, we went straight back into dancing and I think it made for an even more passionate Tango,” he said.
He couldn’t have been more right! When Brandy and Maks hit the floor for their Tango, they reminded the crowd why they’re #1! Brandy had power and passion in her steps that were perfectly tailored for the routine.
When all was said and done, Brandy was in tears once again because she’s invested so much into this competition. “It’s everything to me,” she admitted.
“Without doubt, for me, the dance of the night,” said judge Len Goodman, who only spoke to Maks during his critique.
“That Tango really rocked,” judge Bruno Tonioli exclaimed, comparing her to Tina Turner in Mad Max.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said Brandy’s Tango gave her goosebumps! “It was like watching someone who’s had a really tough time develop their wings and fly,” she said.
