Michael Jackson’s iconic video for “Thriller” could be getting stretched into a feature-length film.
Before Zombieland, 28 Days Later, or the Resident Evil franchise ever scared the crap out of moviegoers, there was “Thriller.” Now, there’s word that Michael’s moon-walking dead may soon be stumbling their way onto the big screen.
According to Deadline.com, GK Films has been in negotiations to develop a movie based on “Thriller.” This Is It director Kenny Ortega has been attached to the film, which is being shopped around by Real Effects Entertainment.
Reportedly, the movie would be budgeted for under $50 million.
Not much is known about the plot of the film, but it would be based on the song’s background story. Either way, the script is bound to be amazing: It’s being penned by Jeremy Garelick, who wrote The Hangover.
There’s word that Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment are really interested in the movie, but the final green light for the film has to come from Michael’s estate.
