Miguel is in high demand

Miguel, the 24-year-old “All I Want is You” heartthrob, is having a hell of a ride right about now, even before his debut album hit music shelves.

After wrapping the “Music Saved My Life” Tour with the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige, he has none other than R&B superstar Usher tapping him as the opening act for the 25-city American leg of his OMG Tour this fall.

“I’m so happy to be busy, especially busy doing something I’m passionate about. I’m such a lucky guy,” said Miguel. “I think I bring individuality to the game—from the esthetics down the way I pronounce vowels. It’s to [emphasize] that I do stand alone.”

Before confessing his love to a special lady in his life in his chart-topping single, Miguel spent most of his time as a songwriter, penning tracks for Mary, Musiq Soulchild, Jaheim and Usher.

The singer’s impressive network of clients is more than likely the reason for him being able to land such great gigs so soon in his career – well that and his amazing talent of course.

Singing, songwriting and touring have been keeping Miguel abnormally busy lately, so much so that it’s challenging to stay in tune with his everyday life.

“Keeping in contact with my friends and family is definitely an adjustment because I’m a lot busier now,” said Miguel. “What’s so bad about it is that I was never really good at keeping in contact with everyone in the first place, so it’s been a good learning experience that even a quick ‘hello’ via text can be appreciated.”

As Miguel keeps the momentum going from the Mary tour to the Usher tour, he is also prepping for the release of two albums, his debut on November 30 2010, appropriately titled All I Want is You and his sophomore project, tentatively titled State of the Art slated for release in mid-2011.

“I’m always two albums ahead,” Miguel explained to S2S. “I do that because I want to stay connected to my fans. I want to keep putting music out and not have too many big gaps between transitions.”
