The Queen of Soul is thanking fans for their well wishes as she heads into surgery today.
The Associated Press reports that Aretha Franklin fans in Detroit held a prayer vigil yesterday for the singer, who will undergo a medical procedure today. The gathering was lead by City Councilwoman JoAnn Watson.
The “Respect” diva thanked the group for the well wishes in a statement where she said that “all prayers are good.”
Last month, Aretha announced that, under her doctor’s orders, she would have to cancel all of her shows and personal appearances through May.
There’s no word on what Aretha is getting done today, and her publicist, Tracey Jordan, has declined to comment on the situation.
