President Barack Obama is heading to cable to promote the importance of science education by blowing things up.
The Discovery Channel has announced that the Commander-in-Chief will be doing a cameo on “Mythbusters” tonight. He’ll be asking hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman to redo one of their projects.
The president wants them to try their failed Archimedes experiment again. Supposedly, the Greek mathematician ordered soldier to set Roman troops on fire using only mirrors and sunlight to spark a blaze.
Adam and Jamie tried three different times to see if this could actually be done, but their attempts fizzled every time. However, the guys will have the help of 500 eager students for this last attempt.
The president is urging them to try this project again as part of his effort to get kids excited about science, which the Mythbusters fully support.
"That the president is putting such a priority on education really says a lot about the man — you can’t criticize that," said Jamie. "It’s wonderful."
To see the president call Adam and Jamie in for this very special assignment, tune in to “Mythbusters” tonight at 9 p.m. EST on Discovery.
