Altovise Davis, Sammy Davis Jr.’s widow, has passed away.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Altovise died on Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.  She had been suffering from complications of a stroke.

Sammy and Altovise got married in May of 1970.  The couple had just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary when Sammie died of throat cancer.

Altovise, the sole heir to Sammy’s estate, was left to settle his $5 million debt to the IRS. Last year S2S reported that she sued her former business partners, Barrett LaRoda and Anthony Francis, claiming they’d cheated her into signing away her rights to Sammy’s estate.

The men countersued against Altovise, but the parties managed to settle the matter out of court. The proceedings held up a Sammy Davis biopic by New Line Cinema rumored to be starring Usher or Andre 3000 as the former Rat Packer.

Altovise was 65 years old when she died. Our prayers go out to her family in this difficult time.
