Maybe Christina Aguilera’s nerves got the best of her because the singer flubbed her way through the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
“I can only hope everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through,” Christina said in a statement.
When it was first announced that Christina would be doing the honors, she admitted that she was excited for the opportunity.
“I have been performing the anthem since I was 7 years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true. I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.”
Christina likely performed the song better in her dreams.
In real life Christina sang, “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming," when she was supposed to sing, “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.”
