Erykah Badu regularly lets fans into her life through her well-updated Twitter blog, fatbellybella. However, one fan got a little too close for her comfort this weekend.
Erykah called the cops on a stalker who was waiting outside her home in Texas on Saturday. She even twittered a brief description of the woman. “White woman, mid to late 20’s had visited my home 3 or so times. Brought w/ her weird writings,” she tweeted.
To be clear, Erykah meant that the woman had come to her home at least three times in the same day. One time, she lined up flowers outside the singer’s home. Another time, she came baring some strange gifts.
“She had several misc. Items spread out in the grass. Blue shutters, a rabbit, a [toucan] and a sketch book…,” Erykah told her followers.
Eventually, Miss Badu couldn’t take it anymore and had to call in some backup on the overzealous fan. The unwelcome visitor hid from police at first, but they did manage to arrest her.
“Poor chic is apparently sick. I feel so awful. Police pepper sprayed her and cuffed her,” Erykah wrote.
The incident actually caused the Erykah to be late to one of her shows because she had to file a report after the stalker was taken away. “Driving to Austin now. Just got on road. Had to file police report,” she explained in her Twitter.
