Serena Williams is recovering from an emergency medical treatment she underwent Monday.
According to People, the tennis player has been in and out of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angels a lot over the past week.
“Monday Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation,” Serena’s rep said in a statement.
Reportedly, the problem was a blood clot in her lungs, which doctors found during a checkup on her foot.
“Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism which was discovered upon her return to L.A. She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot.”
Serena’s camp said that doctors are continuing to monitor the situation so that more complications can be avoided.
