During a “Saturday Night Live” sketch, Fred Armisen portrayed David, who is legally blind, as a bumbling politician. Fred also poked fun at the governor’s disability while going over the qualifications to fill Hillary Clinton’s senate seat, according EOnline.com.
While playing David, Fred said he’s looking for someone who has economic experience, pull, and is as unprepared for the job as he is. “I’m tired of all these fancy, two-eyed smart alecks from the big city running the show,” Fred said in the sketch. He then held up a chart of New York’s employment rate upside-down.
“I can take a joke, but only 37 percent of disabled people are working, and I’m afraid that kind of third-grade humor certainly adds to this atmosphere,” David told reporters, according to EURweb.com. “Let’s just say I don’t think it helped.”
“SNL” continued the gag later on in the show when Fred wandered in front of the camera during castmate Amy Poehler’s farewell announcement.
