The two top NCAA teams will be treated to an additional prize when they face off next Monday: The Temptations will take the stage, err, the court to perform the National Anthem.
The last game of the college basketball season will commence Monday, April 6 at Ford Field in Detroit.
"[It's] a special treat … for everyone who traveled to Detroit for this year’s NCAA championship game," said Greg Shaheen, NCAA’s senior vice-president.
Monday’s group will include only one original group member, Otis Williams. Otis and the Temptations released a slew of hits over the past few decades, including "My Girl," "Ain’t Too Proud to Beg" and "Papa Was a Rolling Stone."
The Temps are practically synonymous with the city; they were signed to Detroit’s own Motown Records for a total of 40 years. This year marks Motown’s 50-year anniversary.
Michigan State will take on Connecticut, while Villanova is challenging North Carolina in the Final Four games that begin this Saturday.
