Jay-Z will soon accomplish something no other rapper in the game has ever done before: Recording a song with Sade.
The soul singer admitted to the National Post that she’s avoided hooking up with hip-hop artists in the past because they’re music just isn’t her style.
“I’ve never collaborated because I’ve always avoided working outside my safety zone — I can be exactly who I am and can fail or success within the moment,” Sade said. “I feel safe working like I do. I wouldn’t want to work in a situation where I am expected to deliver because I think I wouldn’t deliver.”
But it seems Sade’s reconsidered that policy. RapRadar.com reports that she’ll be working with Jay-Z on a remix of “The Moon & The Sky,” which be featured on her upcoming in album, Ultimate Collection. The studio project is due out on May 3.
This would make Hov the first hip-hop artist that Sade’s ever worked with as she has previously turned down offers for a collaboration with Drake.
And there’s more great news for Jay. Producer Young Guru revealed that Hov’s highly anticipated album with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, is almost done!
“Right now, I’m really trying to get Jay and Kanye to hurry up and finish this Watch The Throne album because the world needs to hear it,” Guru told Vibe.com. “It just needs little tweaks and things like that. But the core of the album is finished.”
