The New Jersey Nets have been slapped with a $50,000 fine for Jay-Z’s locker room visit during March Madness.
ESPN.com reports that the NBA spokesman Tim Frank confirmed news of the penalty on Friday night before the Nets game. The league leveled the penalty after Jay-Z was spotted in the Kentucky Wildcats’ locker room at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, right after the team secured their spot in the Final Four.
Investigation into the visit began after Jay-Z was caught on video, chatting with several players from Kentucky.
Although the reason for the visit seemed harmless, league rules dictate that NBA team personnel aren’t allowed to contact prospective players that are not eligible the NBA draft.
