Oprah Winfrey is charging advertisers big bucks for commercial time during the last episode of her show next month.
It’s not the Super Bowl, but it’s close. Media Life reports that Oprah will be charging $1 million for 30 seconds of ad time during the finale of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on May 25.
That pricetag makes it the most expensive series finale in daytime TV history. To put that into perspective against the entire TV landscape, an “Oprah” ad will cost more than any other finale slot in the last six years, including primetime shows. Even the end of “Lost” only garnered $900,000 per commercial.
Considering that many experts project the last original “Oprah” episode will draw at least 20 million viewers, it would be money well spent.
