Kanye West has inexplicably shut down his organization aimed at keeping kids in school.
The New York Times reports that, after four years in operation, the Kanye West Foundation has closed and its phone line has been cut off. The charity’s executive director, Joseph Collins, notified associates about the closing.
"I am reaching out to let you know that the Kanye West Foundation has officially closed its doors after a successful 4+ years of programming and events [sic]," Joseph wrote. "It has been an incredible experience working with Kanye and the board to realize his mother’s vision and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Foundation."
No reason was given as to why the rapper has closed up shop for the Kanye West Foundation. Neither Kanye nor his camp have commented on the situation yet.
The organization wasn’t funded out-of-pocket by the rapper, rather it was bankrolled by businesses and other benefactors Kanye has worked with in the past.
